Sunrise over our Hillbilly 'hood

Sunrise over our Hillbilly ‘hood

As the day awakens and everyone wakes up with it, there is a sense of anticipation for what is to come.  The new day holds a promise of things yet realized — what it brings is up to us.

Sunset over our Hillbilly 'hood

As the sun sets and nightfall is near, our sense of anticipation can still remain.  Our bodies and minds need rest, but our spirit and drive are still there, waiting to start another day tomorrow.

Moonrise over our Hillbilly 'hood

Lock the joy of the day in your mind and heart, let go of the trials and pain of the day as you lay down to rest, and let troubles fade away as you drift off to sleep.  Whether joy or trouble, a new day full of new possibilities awaits you.  Nothing is carved in stone — a day and a night can change everything.

Meanwhile, someone is getting ready for her trip to the pumpkin patch…

It’s me, Precious Baby!  And I’m kinda unsure if this will be a  trip that babies like.

Still not real sure about this…am I for sale?

All right, so, now what?

Am I supposed to be doing what he’s doing?

Well…this…MIGHT not end up being so bad…

You’re not gonna cry again, are you?  Between teething and wearing a diaper I’m already pretty wet.

1381491_10151995062131639_842973904_n

This turned out to be kinda fun!

1383830_10151995058331639_994553837_n

I’m so glad Daddy and Mommy brought me!

941288_10151995066111639_798642031_n

And look what Mommy took a picture of — a bug on a pumpkin flower!  She’s getting pretty good at this picture-taking stuff!  But then she’s had lots of practice taking pictures of ME!

Things in Hillbilly Land and this side of the world are coming to a close for the day, and blessings abound everywhere if we look for them.  Whether it is a beautiful grandchild, a beautiful sky, a bug on a flower, or anything that shows us God is near, enjoy your blessings tomorrow as you travel through the day and through life.  Blessings to each and every one of you!

Precious Baby and her friend love splashing in the water on a sunshiny day — they just can’t get enough of it!  Especially when there is a toy to play with.  There’s only one toy between the two of them, alas, so what to do, what to do!

Where is Precious Baby’s friend?  Well, he is getting the toy.

Here he is!

Meanwhile, at her home a little while away, Precious Baby’s cousin Angel Baby has a way of imploring with her eyes.

"Seriously, can I get in the pool, too?"

“Seriously, can I get in the pool, too?”

It is easy to understand why Frank’s baby granddaughters are the apples of his eyes!

My Other Daughter — The One Who Lets Me Talk About Her

State Seal of Iowa.

A few times in this blog I have mentioned my other daughter, Emily, who lives in Iowa with her family.  She couldn’t wait to get away from me here in Missouri so she ran away to Iowa.  No, I’m kidding.  I don’t think she hates me at all.

521976_4714813073682_774681098_nEmily is a full-time student in nursing school, as well as holding down a full-time job in a pharmacy, as well as being an integral part of a family of four (whew, that makes ME tired!).  She has a husband and two adorable children.

704789_412907148778514_857601390_o - CopyAnd we’re exactly alike.  Well, maybe not exactly, but we have a lot of similarities.  We’ve even got pneumonia at the same time and are both trying to shake it.  Even though we’re miles apart, we share everything, lol.

Gianna is Emily and Jay’s four-year-old daughter.  Ugly thing.  She hates people and bites and spits.  No, kidding again.  Actually Gianna doesn’t seem to know a stranger, and she’s a pretty little girl.  Like her grandma.  No, kidding again — she’s pretty like her mother.

544016_4518394163332_1446195516_nJay, Emily’s husband, is a photographer who runs Amaroo Dreaming Photography. And, he took the picture of Gianna over there.  Here he is in a picture with Gianna — he’s the one with the beard.

309913_4606251599713_449710084_nLast but not least, there is Brisbane, Emily and Jay’s two-year-old son.  He doesn’t know a stranger, either.  And he and Gianna can make a toy out of anything.  Last time they were over at my house they entertained themselves for the longest time when they found Lucy and then found my kitchen towel.  A fun time was had by all.

It’s a beautiful thing when your son-in-law is a photographer — that way you know you’re going to be seeing lots of great photographs of the family because photographers carry their cameras everywhere with them.  Well, nearly everywhere.  I am looking forward to sharing their happenings and photos on here in days to come.

483576_10151481595366639_1001645263_nBecca’s Precious Baby is still having trouble letting her mommy go when it comes time for Becca to go to work.  Becca said it is so hard emotionally as well to put Precious Baby down when she has to go, and I can see why.  Who could easily give up holding someone so precious, let alone when they just don’t want to let you go?

It’s easy to forget the days when our babies are little and helpless and sweet.  They grow so fast, and those memories become harder and harder to bring to mind.  Why is it that we can remember things that we’d rather forget like it was yesterday even though it happened years ago, but wonderful things tend to fade?

I can remember clutching tooth and nail to hang onto all the memories of my young ones — I took countless pictures, kept countless mementoes, and did everything I could to keep the sweet memories from fading.  And yet, they did.  But, I can remember every single time someone called me “dumb” as if they were standing there doing it right now.  Why on earth is that?

Our minds are funny things.  They are very fearfully and wonderfully made, except we just don’t seem to be grasping how to work them fully.  If we did, the power to do marvelous things would be awesome.

Back to Precious Baby — it’s easy to see why Momma Becca dotes on her so much!

FrankThis evening right before dark City Boy let me take a picture of him.  This is like, something that never happens, so I have to take advantage of it when it happens.  So, he was in a good mood when he got home from work, and here he is.  Tahdah!

And now, speaking of my significant other, it’s time for tonight’s reminder.

12321814_s

Don’t forget — there are only 7 days left before Valentine’s Day!  Get your shopping and shipping taken care of because it’s zero hour!

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if, after all this reminding on here, Frank didn’t get me anything?  I mean, I am pretty subtle, so maybe he won’t get the hints.  The texts I’ve been sending, the notes on the bathroom mirror, the Valentine heart candy on his pillow every night.  You think I’m TOO subtle?

Time will tell — we’ll see.  I’m getting him a fabulous….well, I’d better not say — just in case he ever reads this blog (as if).

Folks, have the most fabulous last half of a week EVER, and be blessed!

Too Bad You’re In School Or You Could Go Shopping With Me

English: -

School is in full swing again, and students all over the land are busy studying, writing, on computers and losing sleep.  City Boy is no exception, except for the part about losing sleep.  He gets enough.  His wife, on the other hand, must stay up after hours or sneak a few minutes in here and there and check her email and do various other tasks that involve the computer because those are the only times she can get on the computer when her husband is not.  Ah, but such is life.  It makes blogging almost like a sport.

Other than blogging, my other favorite thing to do is shopping.  And not just any shopping, but getting something great for a price much less than it’s worth.  Oh yeah!  I do love shopping at places like Target and JCP, but some of my all-time favorite places to do any bargain shopping are at higher priced stores when they are having sales.

Neiman Marcus

I’m not talking about places like Neiman-Marcus, where they never have sales, or where any markdowns are still so high you have to mortgage your house to participate.  But, I do like shopping places besides Walmart from time-to-time.  Getting better quality stuff at a lower price is something I like doing.

Coldwater Creek

One of my favorite places to look for gems is Coldwater Creek.  Their clothes just seem to fit better and hang more attractively on me.  Cloths and jewelry go on sale at this time of year, and right now Coldwater Creek is having a fantastic sale.  Their items that are already on Clearance are marked down half again of the clearance price.  This includes most, if not all, of their outlet items!

Macy’s is another one I like to look in for deals.  Right now their clearance items are marked down an extra percentage in addition to the sale.

The only problem with shopping in stores like this is that the sale merchandise is picked-over many times, or if you shop online, there are sometimes shipping charges that have to be factored in before you know if you’re getting a deal or not.

That said, it’s every day life as usual here.  Frank is healing nicely from his surgery, and hopes to be up to 100% soon.  In the meantime, he does everything he ever did when his foot was perfectly healthy, which makes me wonder what exactly 100% IS for him.

And, of course, I would not be normal if I didn’t post regularly about pets and grandchildren.  My niece has a multitude of pets that includes ten tarantulas, so feel fortunate — all we have to post about as far as pets is a little dog.  And she’s usually pretty good, but yesterday she made a big mess getting into the dryer softener sheets and chewing them up into a million little pieces and strewing them all over the house.  I would think dryer sheets would taste bad, but then this is the dog that will eat deodorant sticks.

Lucy

And, of course, I simply must post a weekly look at Frank’s granddaughter — Becca is so good to always send pictures of her to us!

Incidentally, Becca was trying to get ready for work yesterday morning and Precious Baby was wanting Becca’s attention to the point that she would scream bloody murder (Becca’s words) whenever Becca would try to put her down so she could get ready.   Finally, Becca found the only solution, and the only thing that would placate Precious Baby:

Hey, baby’s happy, and Mom is able to get ready — you do whatever works!

Everybody have a great week and a blessed Sunday!

Just before I go to bed, I wanted to quickly post the latest picture of Frank’s 1-1/2 month old granddaughter.  The picture was sent from Becca’s cell phone, and I just had to share it!  I guess we just can’t help ourselves….Image

Looking at a precious baby sleeping peacefully is a great thing to look at right before going to bed — I hope you all have sweet dreams tonight as well!

My daddy married a city girl and put her in the country, and then I married a city boy and he put me in the city...for awhile anyway. We're now living in small-town Mid-Missouri and enjoying the best of both worlds!
