Tonight, as I think about my young grandchildren and how precious children are in general, I am sickened with grief to learn of the senseless tragedy of the Connecticut shootings.
No child should ever go through something as terrible as this, and no parent should ever have to wait and wonder if their child will be home tonight, and no family should ever have to mourn the sudden loss of a young child.
My heart goes out and fervent prayers are going up for the victims, survivors and their families as they make their way through the days ahead.

I agree. The nation is grieving.
Yes. Sickened. Words do fail. I feel grief, sorrow and love for those in who have been robbed of their joy.
I know Becky – it was my waking thought this morning – all the grieving parents – probably with Christmas gifts bought and wrapped – and the children who witnessed the horror which will, I am sure, never leave them.
The tv and radio have been silent here, the news being too unbearable to hear. Prayers are all we have to offer these grieving families and heartsick nation, and the silence affords us the opportunity to keep sending them up throughout the day. Peace and comfort to all of you, too, as you try to make sense of this tragic event that so contradicts what this season of peace and giving stands for.
I cannot imagine the pain that those parents must be sensing… I do not know what I would do if I would lose either of my little ones! I hope that they may find peace and comfort in the days to come!
This event brought things especially close to home for you, I’m sure — every parent and grandparent probably thought immediately of their little ones the second they heard about this — I know I did.
